Give and Be the Difference
We could say the youth today – like never before, feel discarded, refused, ignored, and pushed aside. We could cite teenage statistics of abuse, violence, drugs, alcohol, and more. But that would distract from our purpose and mission of using our proactive approach to create safe, supportive and positive educational environments where all students are given the opportunity to learn and begin development of their potential. We create lasting change by empowering youth to be the solution through leadership training and community service projects. It’s meaningful, powerful and it’s effective.

"The Secret of the Can" is a dynamic book on how one person can make a HUGE difference in many lives. A very personalized narrative of Reese Williams, a typical teenager with high school growing pains and life lessons, as substitute teacher Austin Walker mysteriously shows up to change the world as Reese and his classmates see it. Read how the baton of true leadership is passed from a sage to the next chosen leader. in school, and suspended…suspended…suspended. The student assistance coordinator encouraged him to join Youth4Youth. He states, “Youth4Youth is the reason I’m still in school…it changed my life!”
Marcus was mundane and shy. His guidance counselor suggested Marcus join Youth4Youth. He began to develop leadership skills and as a result was selected to go to Washington, DC, as a student ambassador. While there he met Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, who was so impressed with him that she called Marcus when he returned home and offered him financial support to pursue a career in History or Politics. This fall he is attending LCCC and looking to transfer to Georgetown University next year.
Erin R. says, “Youth4Youth has given me encouragement, leadership development and awesome experiences and memories.” As a high school junior and senior, Erin was invited to participate in Leadership Lorain County and wrote two powerful 30-minute plays that have been performed for thousands of students in Youth4Youth Schools.
